A friend asked me to photograph the Aon Center. Her uncle had worked there for years and she wanted something that carried that connection. I went to shoot the building and the lion walked into the frame.
That was it. Old Chicago and modern Chicago in one shot. The stone that's been standing guard for over a century and the steel that defines the skyline behind it. Neither one asking permission from the other. Both just being what they are.
This was the first photograph someone ever asked me for. The moment this stopped being something I did for myself and became something other people wanted to live with.
That's what this print carries into a room.
This piece is for the person who understands that a city isn't one thing.
Not the one who decorates. The one who curates.
It works in living rooms, offices, studios, and creative spaces that run minimal but hit hard.

Classic Chicago like you’ve never seen before. I asked Jason to take photos of the Aon Center as a gift to my uncle who has made a great impact there as building manager, and Jason understood the assignment. He took an iconic image of the Art Institute lions and made it his own. Needless to say my uncle was so touched and in awe of this incredibly unique and lovely vantage point of the city we all love so dearly. Thank you Jason for always seeing things we’ve walked past a million times and allowing us to take in new angles, new perspectives, and newfound appreciation.
