Pittsburgh was new territory for me.
Different energy, different pace, different people. Less of the chaos I was used to. I was struggling to find my photography in a city that didn't move the way Chicago moves. At some point I had to be honest with myself. I was a Chicago photographer who needed to become something more.
When I don't know where to go, I go to the architecture. It works anywhere. It pulls you in when everything else keeps you outside. And what does the most with architecture, what makes it speak, is shadow.
Everyone knows I love a pop of color. What most people don't know is that the deeper the contrast, the deeper I connect. This shot is that. Pittsburgh stripped down to form and shadow, pulling me in when I needed it most.
