I was walking past this bike on a regular day in Chicago — nothing planned, nothing set up — and the orange stopped me cold. A Vespa sitting in a pile of fallen leaves, that burnt autumn color against the season's own palette, and I was the only one who seemed to notice it. People walked past it like it wasn't there. Like the city hadn't just put something perfect right in the middle of the sidewalk.

I had to shoot it. That's all there was to it.

This is the kind of moment that made me understand what I was actually doing with a camera. Not documenting. Not cataloguing. Finding the thing hiding in plain sight that everyone else walked past.
